Audiqueen Workstation

Note: We recommend Windows 10 on workstations for use with Audiqueen

System Requirements

  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
  • Not Supported Operating Systems: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP or lower
  • Processor: A recent dual core or higher
  • RAM: 4GB RAM
  • Hard Disk: Up to 1 GB of available space may be required
  • Display: 1024 x 768 (Minimum)

Software Prerequisites

  • .NET Framework 4.6.1
  • Windows Installer 3.1

Optional Software

  • Microsoft Word 2007 or higher (to print reports to Word)
  • Windows Media Player 7 or higher (to enable Video and Audio previews in Audiqueen)
  • Adobe/Acrobat Reader 5 or higher (to enable PDF previews in Audiqueen)

Audiqueen workstations need to be connected to the local area network and need to be able to connect to both the Audiqueen Database Server and the Otoconsult License server.

Audiqueen Database Server

Data storage is implemented using SQL Server 2014 SP2. The Express edition of this software is included in the Audiqueen installation package. During the Audiqueen installation a new instance of SQL Server 2014 is created. Its installation and configuration happen automatically.

Alternatively, the customer may create the Audiqueen database in an existing instance of SQL Server. This may be the better choice if the customer wants to take advantage of features of SQL Server that are not supported by the Express edition (e.g. Database Replication, Failover Clustering, number of CPUs, memory utilization, etc.). SQL scripts for creating a new database are included in the installation package. If you don’t like to use a data file storage path, the FILESTREAM feature must be enabled for Transact-SQL on the targeted SQL Server instance.

In any case, it is the responsibility of the customer to make sure that their network and firewalls are configured in a way that allows workstations to access the database server. By default, TCP port 1433 and UDP port 1434 should be opened.

A rough estimate of the disk space requirements is 1 GB per 1,000 patient visits, although this is highly dependent on the types of measurements that are executed during a visit. An audiometry will only take a couple of kB while an endoscopic high definition video recording could take up to several hundreds of MB at once.

For hospital level licences, the Audiqueen database server is supported in virtual machine environments.

Otoconsult License Server

The Audiqueen licensing mechanism uses a ‘concurrent sessions’ principle, where each 'active' Audiqueen Workstation occupies a session. A session has a time-out of 20 minutes, which means that a Workstation keeps occupying a session for 20 minutes after the Audiqueen application has been closed on the Workstation. The maximum number of allowed simultaneous sessions is limited by the purchased license and enforced by means of a central Windows Service. Technically this has the following consequences:

  1. A Windows service is installed on a single machine (the License Server). The license Service opens a TCP port. The port number can be chosen by the customer. The default port number is 58295. The customer's network needs to be configured in a way that all Audiqueen workstations are able to establish TCP/IP connections to this machine and on this port.
  2. An Audiqueen license is activated on the License Server. This license contains information about the maximum number of allowed simultaneous sessions and also determines which connections to instrument hardware are allowed. During activation the license is locked to the machine hardware and will only be functional on this specific machine. Activation occurs over the internet when the License Server is able to access the internet (http and https protocols, TCP ports 80 and 443). When internet access is not available or blocked (proxy servers with authentication, firewalls, etc.) activation occurs by generating a code on the License Server and by delivering this code to support@otoconsult.com. Based on this code Otoconsult will create and return a license certificate file to the customer. Loading this certificate file onto the machine where the code was initially generated, activates the license.
  3. If the License Server is a virtual machine (VMWare, Virtual PC, etc.) the license needs to be renewed on a yearly basis. The renewal procedure is performed according to the standard license activation procedure (as described above). If the License Server is a physical, non-virtualized machine, a perpetual license, if applicable, will be issued.
  4. If the customer needs to transfer the license service to another machine, first an intervention by Otoconsult is required to deactivate the license on the current machine. This intervention may be executed remotely by means of Remote Assistance Tools (e.g. TeamViewer, Remote Desktop, Crossloop, etc.). Only when the license has been deactivated on the original License Server will Otoconsult allow the license to be reactivated on the new machine.
